has come into being through the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the
Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992, and the
Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and is covered by the Institute of
Electrical Engineers code of practice for In Service inspection and Testing
of electrical equipment.
The frequency of tests depends upon several factors
including type of equipment, amount of usage, external influences, etc etc.
A low to medium risk such as an office would not
normally require regular inspections, but should maintenance be carried out
on that equipment by an unqualified person you have just introduced a new
risk. Or should that appliance have been given to you without it being
tested, once again you have immediately increased risk.
Should you require further clarification please do not
hesitate to contact us.
