The Institute of Electrical Engineers recommend frequencies of inspection of a domestic installation of every 10 years, or change of occupancy (if sooner).  This obviously has ramifications where properties are let.  A.R.L.A (Association of Registered Letting Agents) highly recommend regular inspections on their members properties.
